2023 SESSIONS
While each session has a specific theme, we always offer lots of time outside, circus arts, visual art and space to work on a collaborative performance at the end of the week. This happens from 3-3:30 every Friday, weather permitting. Most weeks we field trip to swimming areas and other locations. Ours is a child-led program; when kids are especially excited about something, their interest helps shape the curriculum.

Insectopia: More Than a Flea Circus
Located at Boulder Valley Waldorf School
Explore small and think big. In this wild insect ride we will be magnifying the small world. Don an exoskeleton, create brilliant puppets, parade as magnificent butterflies, and help spin a story of tiny, epic proportions. During this session, we study, sculpt and invent insects. We will perform on circus apparatus, juggle, walk on stilts, play with face paint, design kites, create inspiring costumes, and build wild habitats in the colorful, giant, buggy world.

During this session we will practice primal skills and learn new ways to relate with the natural world. Weather permitting, we build fires, shelters, practice archery, knife skills, learn about water filtration, spend time in the mountains, identify plants and animals. We will listen and feel the forest, allowing time to be wild and time for quiet reflection.
*On certain days during this session, children are allowed to bring pocket, camping, and whittling knives to camp. These are “checked” in the morning. A teacher will distribute them when we are practicing knife skills and then collect them again until the end of the day.

Spooky Circus, the Exquisite Corpse
Located at Boulder Valley Waldorf School
Back by popular demand! We are combining two of our favorite sessions - We create stories and creatures together in an ongoing game of Exquisite Corpse (this is when you draw a creature or write a story in sections with other people, but the next person does not know what the previous person drew or wrote). We share and bring to life our favorite (wonderful, weird, monstrous) characters through puppetry, costuming, art, and movement. At the end of the week we will transform the cottonwoods into a monster’s habitat and delight grownups with a spooky circusy extravaganza.
Session 4:
June 26th - June 30th

High Flying Trapeze Camp!
Located at Boulder Valley Waldorf School
and Fly Mile High in Westminster
In this, our first collaboration with Fly Mile High, we are excited to offer a unique experience for kids that beautifully aligns with our philosophy. Mornings will be spent with expert instructors as kids learn to swing high, lean in to trust and see what it feels like to safely take playful risks in the sky. Afternoons are more art and nature-based, incorporating original storytelling, costuming and free play. We are still in the process of developing this session and are thrilled for the opportunity. There is an additional $100 fee for this week to cover additional expenses for this incredible activity.
Session 5:
July 10th - July 14th
Forts and Portals
Located at Boulder Valley Waldorf School
Come create characters from the corners of possibility in this vast universe, play in the trees, invent ships that travel between dimensions. In this session learn ways of expressing stories through circus art and architecture. We work with tools and play games that bring us into parallel worlds. Join in the fun and build forts, obstacle courses, and portals. Improvisation and critical thinking skills play are a big part of this week where kids get to offer their ideas to the challenges of extra-global, inter dimensional adventures.

Circus Bushcraft
Located at Boulder Valley Waldorf School
This is a fun, theatrical approach to our survival session. We will learn primal skills such as archery, how to handle camping knives, shelter-building, plant identification, fire building, and campfire cooking. We will weave stories with our skills, transform the woods into a place of circus wonder and bushcraft knowledge. We will also get to share our skills and see how our grown-ups fair in a circus inspired obstacle course we create together at the end of the week.
*On certain days during this session, children are allowed to bring pocket, camping, and whittling knives to camp. These are “checked” in the morning. A teacher will distribute them when we are practicing knife skills and then collect them again until the end of the day.
